2024 Dealer Environment Art for Global Markets
Celebrating the Toyota brand
through the Prism of
Automotive Fine Art
Interior environment artwork packages designed to celebrate the Toyota brand, enhance guest experiences, and instill an elevated sense of pride in the Toyota ethos.
From the studio of automotive artist Stephen Selzler.
Raised as an aspiring automotive designer, Stephen has spent the past decade as a practicing graphic designer and brand strategist, serving various luxury and aspirational brands across North America. Stephen’s influences come from a small variety of particular artists and designers from the American midcentury, pop, and postmodern movements to make up his stylistic repertoire. Notable influences include: Andy Warhol, Jeff Koons, Keith Haring, Norman Rockwell, Art Fitzpatrick, Frank Lloyd Wright, Wayne Thiebaud, Anselm Kiefer, Syd Mead, and Saul Bass.
Alumnus: Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) Baltimore, Maryland — BFA, 2008.
"We’re a lot like our cars. In a way, I think it’s similar to how pets tend to reflect the personalities and likeness of their owners. They say a lot about what kind of person we are, and what/who we aspire to be; whether we’re intense or easy going, ambitious or cautious, friendly or aggressive, and everything in between. The automobile is perhaps the only human invention that mirrors the unique traits of every man, woman, and child with arresting accuracy. It’s poetic, really.
"Much of my automotive work seeks to capture that relationship, the one between man and machine. Whether it’s a group of gawking observers attending a ritzy concours event, or an intimate moment of a father showing his young daughter the curiosities of a gated dogleg shifter, these moments celebrate the uniqueness our automobiles bring out in each of us."
The Vision
The vision behind the Toyota x StudioSelzler partnership is one where the sophisticated, technologically-astute elements of the Toyota brand are paired with aspirational artworks which celebrate Toyota's engineering marvels, as well as the marque's unique heritage as a world-beater in automotive engineering.
Dealership environments— both new and existing —benefit greatly from programmed wallspace reserved for visual accoutrements; "The Cherry On Top," in other words. It has an equally attention-grabbing quality as well as a balancing effect, helping spaces finally feel tied together.
Dealers involved in the Toyota x StudioSelzler interiors program work directly with the studio to spec full- or partial-property artwork packages suited to the most common artwork budgets (between $10k and $45k+) in addition to having access to the full studio Toyota catalog for one-off artwork piece orders with no minimums required.
Artwork is produced both digitally and physically at StudioSelzler's Dallas, Texas–based studio, creating a variety of artwork imagery celebrating the Toyota brand with a growing portfolio of work on regular release schedules. Completed artworks are added to an ordering database quarterly, ready to be ordered by dealers looking for fresh material.
Dealers are provided with an elevation plan of all artwork proposal areas to give accurate visualizations, which is particularly helpful when working in a formal manner with interior design, architecture, and purchasing agencies.
